Another Non-Spoilery Comment

Having had time to reflect, the casualty that bothers me most is the one that's buried on the cliffs by the sea.

This surprises no one more than myself.

Also -- if you want to take anything from this book, it's the power of a little kindness.

I was really surprised at that, honestly. When I read about Fred, I gasped, "No!" but it's Dobby (poor Dobby) that's stuck with me.

I love Fred and George, and though it took me a while to realize it, it's terribly sad that the last of the Marauders is gone (Lupin, who I rather liked too)...but there's just something about Dobby's unfailing loyalty.

And that epitaph...so simple and sad. :-(

Though Kreacher was all sorts of awesome at the end. :-)

Just finished. Kreacher rocks. I cried at his loyality. Dobby true to the end. Hedwig's death so unfair in the beginning. Losing Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Mad-Eye hurt.

Yet the ending, made be fall apart. Albus Severus. Need I say more.

I am ashamed to say that I forgot about Hedwig. :-(

Remus and Tonks...Tonks was funny, but Remus didn't really surprise me -- he was always portrayed as very careworn.

The ending...meh...to be honest -- I thought it was cheesy. But of course it left 19 years' worth of material for her to write about, or she could do a new series about Albus.

I think a neat follow-up (though probably aimed at a more adult audience) would be an exploration of how you go about healing society -- the Sorting Hat and its admonitions to stand together still aren't being taken seriously...just look at how Albus dreaded being sorted into Slytherin.
